PRESS RELEASE FOR THE WEEK OF
April 27, 2015 – May 3, 2015

 
Any charges reported in this press release are merely accusations
and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
 
 
4/27
 
Agency Assistance: Officers assisted EMS personnel with an elderly male whom was unable to get up on his own.
 
Civil Dispute: A caller reportedly got into a verbal argument with another individual. Officers informed the caller this was a civil matter, and to contact the courthouse for further assistance.
 
Domestic Assault: Officers responded to a report of a physical argument between a caller and his girlfriend. After both parties were contacted, one was trespassed from the residence.
 
Parking: A boat trailer was reportedly parked in a public snow lot. An officer contacted the owner of the trailer who agreed to park it elsewhere.
 
Animal at Large: A caller reported a medium sized white dog running in circles in the highway. The ACO was unable to find a dog matching the description given.
 
Civil Dispute: A caller reported she had been receiving threatening text messages from a former acquaintance. Officers determined no crime had been committed, and advised her it was a civil issue.

Agency Assistance: Officers assisted EMS personnel with an elderly female who had fallen and could not get up.
 
Animal at Large: A citation was issued to the owner of a dog after he was verbally warned of the animal at large city ordinance and refused to comply.
 
Property Theft: Summer tires were reportedly stolen out of a connex sometime during the winter. This case is currently under investigation.

Fish & Game: A caller reported a dead seagull was in the roadway. The ACO removed it from the road.
 
Possible Drunk Driver: An agency reported the driver of a vehicle that had just left the area may have been impaired. Officers were unable to locate the driver or the vehicle described.
 
4/30
 
Open Door: A caller reported her neighbor’s residence door was open, and she believed that they were out of town. An officer contacted the owners of the residence via phone who stated the door opens on its own sometimes. The door was then secured.
 
Public Service: VPD officers participated in Career Day at the High School.
 
Fraud: A caller reported receiving multiple calls from an individual who spoke broken English demanding to get ‘inside her computer.’ She was advised not to answer any further calls from that individual.
 
Traffic Complaint: A concerned caller reported a vehicle had been following him around town after he passed them for driving under the speed limit.
 
Noise Disturbance: Loud music was reportedly coming from a boat in the Small Boat Harbor. Officers made contact with three individuals on a boat who agreed to turn their music down.
 
5/01
 
Animal at Large: A caller reported a Rottweiler was running in the street, barking in the middle of the night. Upon an officer’s arrival, the dog had been let inside of a residence but was still barking. He was unable to make contact with anyone inside of the residence.
 
Public Assistance: A caller reported he was purposely locked behind the gate at the landfill and could not get out. Officers contacted an employee at the City Baler who stated it was not on purpose; they did not know anyone was behind the gate when they locked it and left the area. The individual was notified not to go behind the gate unless an employee was made aware beforehand.
 
Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on a minor after they had not been attending school for several days. An officer contacted the child’s mother and determined the child to be fine.
 
Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual after not coming to the door where the caller was trying to gain entry into the residence. Upon officer’s arrival, it was determined the individual needed medical attention and EMS provided transportation to Providence Medical Center.
 
Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on a young child who was walking down the road without parental supervision and seemed lost. An officer located the child and walked her to her nearby residence.
 
Found Property: A wallet was found at the Valdez library. Please call the Police Department with descriptors to claim.
 
Runaway Juvenile: A concerned parent reported her son took off from their residence on his bike after getting into a verbal argument. Officers were unable to locate anyone matching the description given. The child was later found by his parents and no further assistance was needed.
 
5/02
 
Underage Drinking: Four juveniles were issued Minor Consuming Alcohol charges.
 
Gunshots Heard: Dispatch received a call of multiple gunshots being fired outside of a residence. Upon officer’s arrival, it was determined shots were fired after a verbal argument and no injuries were sustained. This case is currently under investigation.
 
Parking: A caller reported a local business was parking their helicopter in a non permitted area. This case is currently under investigation.
 
Civil Dispute: A caller reported his former roommate refused to give him his possessions until a bill was paid for. Officers advised him this was a civil matter, and to contact the courthouse for further assistance.
 
Animal Impound: An Irish setter was dropped off at the shelter after it was reportedly wandering around a resident’s property.
 
Property Theft: Approximately $200.00 worth of firewood was reportedly stolen from outside of a residence. This case is currently under investigation.
 
5/03
 
Gunshots Heard: Multiple gunshots were reportedly heard in a residential area. Upon officer’s arrival, one individual was taken into protective custody as a Title 47 hold after being found extremely intoxicated. Multiple firearms were found at the scene. This case is currently under investigation.
 
Agency Assistance: A boat with eight passengers on board was adrift without power near the Valdez Narrows. Valdez Dispatch contacted the Valdez Coast Guard who then responded.
 
Found Property: A skateboard near the Dock Point gazebo was found and turned into the Police Department. Please call with descriptors to claim.

4-27-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.   
    
4-27-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual on West Klutina needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.      

4-27-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual on Hazelet needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.      

4-28-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing assistance.

4-29-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual on Hazelet needing medical assistance due to back spasms. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.     
 
4-29-15 Valdez EMS responded to an agency assist.  Providence Valdez Medical Center needed assistance with a patient in the ER.   

4-29-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual on Hazelet needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.   
   
5-1-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual at Valdez Mobile Home Park needing medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
