PRESS RELEASE FOR THE WEEK OF February 16 - 22, 2015
Any charges reported in this press release are merely accusations and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Theft: A school reported the theft of fuel siphoned out of their fuel tank over the weekend. This case is currently under investigation.
Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested by another agency after an individual made concerning threats to harm them self. Officers spoke with the individual who they determined to be fine.
Hazard: A tree reportedly fell on a local residence when the occupant had been out of town.
Serve Time: Alain M. Stahley, DOB 05/03/1996, of Valdez checked into the Valdez Jail to serve 10 days on the charge of Furnishing Alcohol to Persons Under 21.
Assault Information: A caller reported an altercation occurred between her two roommates. Upon arrival, officers separated both involved for the night without further incidence.
Property Theft: A Black North face jacket was reportedly stolen from inside a local bar.
VID: A vehicle had reportedly gone off of the road into the ditch alongside the highway. Officers conducted traffic control until the vehicle was removed.
Public Service: VPD Officers gave a presentation to Providence Medical Center personnel.
Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an intoxicated individual who was heard banging objects in a nearby residence. Officers made contact with the individual who was determined to be unharmed.
Alarm: An alarm was reportedly going off in a residential area. Upon officer’s arrival, no audible alarms were heard.
Animal Aggression: A caller reported his dog had been attacked while walking in a residential area. The Animal Control Officer attempted to make contact with the owner.
Fraud: A fraudulent charge on a credit card was reportedly made, resulting in an over drafted account balance. Officer’s advised the individual to call their bank.
Serve Time: John W. Totemoff, DOB 01/13/1988, of Anchorage checked into the Valdez Jail to serve 3 days on the charge of Importing Alcohol Into a Dry Area.
Trespassing: It was requested that an individual be trespassed from the premise of an apartment building. Officer’s made contact with the individual who agreed to leave.
Noise Disturbance: A caller reported a loud altercation between multiple individuals in the apartment next door. Upon officer’s arrival the parties were separated for the night without further incidence.
Disturbance: A caller reported hearing suspicious footsteps outside of her house after seeing motion lights come on. Officers responded to the known address. Upon arrival, it was discovered the caller was in Fairbanks. Fairbanks Police Department was then contacted.
Bar Disturbance: A local bartender requested officer’s assistance disbursing a group of intoxicated individuals arguing in the parking lot.
Civil Standby: VPD Officer’s stood by for an individual removing their belongings from their old residence after a domestic violence protective order had been served.
Animal at Large: An aggressive pit-bull was reportedly running loose in a residential area. The information was passed onto the Animal Control Officer.
Theft: Approximately $500 worth of fuel was reportedly stolen from a fuel tank and had a witness to prove it. Officers determined the witness didn’t see it happen, but saw that the fuel cap was left off. The complainant then stated he didn’t want anything done, but asked for it to be printed in the local paper.
Bar Disturbance: Officers were requested for a heated argument between multiple individuals in a local bar. Upon officer’s arrival, one individual was trespassed from the property until a later date.
Arrested: Joshua J .Terrell, DOB 12/19/1979, of Valdez, was arrested on two counts of Domestic Assault in the fourth degree, and Criminal Mischief in the fifth degree.
Animal at Large: A brown German shepherd was reportedly running around in the Prince William Sound Community College parking lot. Officers were unable to locate the dog in the area.
Suspicious Person: A caller reported multiple individuals were taking items out of the residence next door that had been vacant for several months. Upon officers arrival, it was determined the individual was just doing some work for property management.
Noise Disturbance: Loud music was reportedly coming from a nearby residence. Officers contacted the tenant who agreed to turn the music down.

2-16-15 Valdez Fire responded to the fire alarm at the Church of Latter Day Saints. The alarm needed to be reset.
2-16-15 Valdez Ems responded to assist in a medivac.
2-21-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medical call for an individual who was injured. The patient was evaluated, but no transportation was needed.
2-22-15 Valdez Fire Department responded to fire alarm. The scene was investigated with no detection of fire in the area.
2-22-15 Valdez EMS responded to a medical call. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
