PRESS RELEASE FOR THE WEEK OF
July 20 - 26, 2015
 
Any charges reported in this press release are merely accusations
and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

 
 7/20

Traffic Complaint:  Officers responded to a complaint of a vehicle passing on the right side at an intersection of the highway.  The driver was issued a verbal warning.
Criminal Mischief:  Officers investigated a report of two vehicles with busted windows and 1 stolen stereo.  If you have any information about this crime, please contact the Valdez Police Department.
Bear Incident:  A dumpster diving bear was driven off and the dumpster lid secured.
Bar Disturbance:  Officers responded to a request for assistance with a patron that would not leave the premise.  The individual was trespassed from the bar for the evening.

Criminal Mischief:  A local church reported that someone threw a beer bottle at the church window. The bottle hit the side of the framing and no damage was done.
Bear Incident:  A caller reported a bear broke into a local residence.  The bear went away but was initially attracted to the smell of trash and dirty diapers in the arctic entry.
Theft of Property:  The theft of medication and cigarettes from a private residence was reported.

Domestic:  Officers responded to a report of an assault.  Both parties were separated for the evening.
Theft of Property:  A caller reported the theft of $200.00 and a deep fryer from a residence porch. If you have any information about this crime, please contact the Valdez Police Department.
Welfare Check:  A welfare check was requested on an individual after not showing up for work. Subject was located and was fine.
Bear Trap:  A bear trap was set up in a local trailer park, after numerous complaints of bears wandering around the park.

MIW Alcohol: Numerous calls of gunshots heard in the area of 10 mile were received.
Arrested:  George Meyer, DOB 8/17/73, of Big Lake was arrested on two charges of Misconduct Involving Weapons 4th.
Theft of Property:  A caller reported the theft of a tote with jackets in it from a private apartment.  If you have any information about this crime, please contact the Valdez Police Department.
Lost Property:  A wallet was reported lost at Thompson Pass.  If you have found this item, please turn it into the Police Department.
MVA-Damage:  One vehicle backed into another at an apartment complex parking lot.  State participant forms were issued.
Arrested:  Ryan Charley, DOB 3/24/81, of Tok was arrested on an outstanding Glennallen AST arrest warrant for Harassment 2.
Bar Disturbance:  Officers responded to a request for assistance from a local bar for an unruly patron that refused to leave the premises. Subject left in a cab.

Summonsed:  Daniel White, DOB 7/6/96, of Valdez was summonsed for Theft 3 and Tampering with Evidence. 
Disturbance:  Officers responded to a report of a belligerent male yelling profanity at a local consignment shop. Subject was located and trespassed from the business.

Curfew:  A juvenile was given a curfew violation warning.
Bear Incident:  Officers responded to a report from a couple stating that a bear was outside their tent at Allison Point.  The officers could not find a bear in the area.
Welfare Check:  Officers made contact with an individual laying on top of the pavilion on the overlook trail at the Civic Center.  He was okay, and agreed to get down.
Arrested:  Vicki Wright, DOB: 2/17/54, of Valdez was arrested on an outstanding Valdez PD warrant for Failure to Appear for Calendar Call on an original charge of DUI.
MVA-Damage:  One vehicle backed into another at a downtown business parking lot.  State participant forms were issued.
Theft Property:  Officers investigated a report of theft of property and vandalism at a private residence in a local trailer park.  This case is under investigation.  If you have any information about this crime, please contact the Valdez Police Department.

Disturbance:  A caller stated that her neighbors were fighting and yelling.  The officers contacted the neighbors, and found no evidence of any problems.
Suspicious Person:  Officers responded to a report of someone trying to open a window at private residence in a local trailer park.  Officers could not find the subject.
Disturbance:  A local cannery requested police assistance with a disgruntled employee that had been laid off, but would not leave.  The individual was trespassed from the property.
Welfare Check:  An officer on patrol checked on the welfare of an intoxicated female who had fallen off her bicycle.  She parked the bike and walked the rest of the way home.

VALDEZ FIRE CALLS
7-20-15 to 7-26-15

7-20-15 Valdez EMS responded to a public assistance request.

7-21-15 Valdez Fire Department responded to a fire call in Area 1. The culprit was an oven that malfunctioned and was causing a massive amount of smoke coming from the oven.    

7-22-15 Valdez EMS responded to a trauma call in Area 2. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.   

7-22-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual needing assistance.       

7-22-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual who needed medical assistance. The patient was treated at the scene.   

7-24-15 Valdez EMS responded to a public assistance request.  

 7-24-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual who needed medical assistance in Area 1. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
