PRESS RELEASE FOR THE WEEK OF April 6, 2015 – April 12, 2015, 2015
Any charges reported in this press release are merely accusations and the Defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Intoxicated Pedestrian: An intoxicated individual was reported walking north on the park strip. Officers arrived and assisted the individual home.
Harassment: VPD dispatch received numerous calls from an individual making statements and asking questions regarding his being arrested by VPD. Further investigation determined the calls were from an out of area phone number.
Welfare Check: Valdez City Schools requested a welfare check on an individual who had not been in school for several days and had not been heard from. Contact was made with the mother who stated her child wasn’t feeling well.
Serve Time: Kimberlie Aren Killips, DOB 08/02/1978 of Valdez, reported to the VPD jail to serve 30 days for DV Assault and VCOR.
Gunshots heard: A report of possible gun shots on Iditarod was made. Officers patrolled the area and talked with two individuals who stated they had not heard anything. No further reports were made.
Agency Assistance: Officers assisted EMS on a report of an individual who had fallen and was unconscious.
Criminal Mischief: A caller reported a lock hasp pried off the cabin door of his boat. A second caller reported his boat had possibly been broken into as well. Neither boat appeared to have anything missing but both owners wanted the incident documented. Officers responded and took photographs of the damage. If anyone has information on this please contact the Valdez Police Department.
Found Property: A pair of reading glasses with multi-colored stems was turned in to the VPD. Please contact the police department to identify.
Agency Assistance: VPD assisted EMS at the small boat harbor on a report of a male suffering from an irregular heartbeat.
Alarm – Burglar: Officers responded to an alarm at the Harbor Master’s office. Officers secured the building and reset the alarm.
Criminal Mischief: A report of underage drinking at a neighboring apartment was received by dispatch. In addition, the caller reported damage to his vehicle which he believed was done by the same individuals. Officers responded and did not find evidence of underage drinking. Later, the caller asked to press charges regarding the damages. Officers contacted the adult of the residence who agreed to make restitution.
Theft of Property: A caller reported his black Go phone stolen. If you have any information on this please contact the VPD.
Suspicious Person: A local business reported a man beating on the phone and acting erratically. The individual left and no further assistance was required.
Problems with Neighbors: A caller requested assistance for a neighbor who came into his home and wouldn’t leave. Officers responded and the individual returned to her residence.
Welfare Check: A welfare check was requested on an individual who had not been seen or heard from. Officers eventually made contact with the individual who was fine.
Serve Time: Christian Cyle McGee, DOB 07/12/1979 of Valdez, reported to the VPD jail to serve three days on a charge of VCOR.
Agency Assistance: A supervisor reported an individual who had not shown up for work because he was short of breath and dizzy. Officers and EMS responded. Patient was later transported to the Providence Valdez Medical Center.
ATV: VPD received a report of four wheelers driving through the park strip with a boom box blasting. When officers arrived on the scene, the suspects had already left the area.
Welfare Check: A report of a woman going crazy and screaming was received. Officers responded and asked for assistance from EMS who later transported her to the hospital.
Theft of Vehicle: A caller reported his vehicle stolen. While Officers were searching for the vehicle, the caller reported that he had found his car.
Assault Information: Officers were dispatched to a local bar for a reported bar fight. Upon arrival, all participants had dispersed for the night.
Warrant Arrest: Cody Honea, DOB 09/18/1992 of Valdez, was arrested on a bench warrant for FTA (failure to appear) on a VCOR (violating conditions of release) case from an original charge of furnishing alcohol to minors.
Barking Dog: A dog barking and howling all night was reported. Officers located the dog and put him in the kennel on the property for the night.
Welfare Check: A concerned citizen asked for a welfare check on an individual who had not been heard from in two days. Officers made contact and the individual was taken to the Hospital by EMS for further treatment.
Traffic Complaint: Dispatch received a complaint of a camper heading towards Keystone canyon and swerving into the opposite lane causing the caller to drive onto the shoulder. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle.
Harassment: VPD received a report of an individual receiving harassing texts and calls. An investigation is on-going.
Civil Dispute: A caller reported that she cannot retrieve her belongings from a trailer where other individuals are now living. Officers advised the caller to apply for a writ of assistance from the court.
Theft of Property: A local business reported a theft of a neon open sign. An investigation is continuing.

4-7-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual who fell and a possible broken ankle. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
4-8-15 Valdez Fire responded to a vehicle fire at Valdez Mobile Home Park.
4-8-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual who needed medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

4-9-15 Valdez Fire Department responded to fire alarm activation at Valdez Man Camp. The fire alarm was reset.
4-10-15 Valdez Hazmat Team responded to an ammonia leak at Silver Bay Seafood’s. There was a small leak located and maintenance staff fixed the leak.
4-11-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual who needed medical attention. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.

4-12-15 Valdez EMS responded to an individual who had hit their head. The patient was treated at the scene and transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center.
