Superintendent Nygaard released the following statement:
The extreme weather the past several days has delayed the return of several of the school bus drivers returning to Valdez from Winter Break.
Because of these delays, First Student Busing is going to have to implement a few changes for tomorrow’s start of school bus service 1/04/22. First Student will be combining a few routes as listed below. This will mean that a few routes will have no service. First Student is sorry for any inconvenience.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to school and to pick them up if the bus is not running in your area. However, if the parent decides to keep their children home, it will not be counted against their children’s absence.
Look for updated information tomorrow…mid-day.
Route status:
Route 1 Eagle Bus & Route 2 Sea Lion Bus will be combined, this will mean that route 2 Students will be about 10 minutes late to the high school and middle School.
Route 3 will run on time.
Route 4 will run on time
Route 5 A, Brown Bear Bus and 5 B, Polar Bear Bus will have no service for the day of 1/04/22 These are both of the 10 mile Buses.
Route 6 Sped Bus, Rabbit Bus will run on time.
