Valdez Varsity Vs. Galena

Over Halloween weekend, the volleyball team hosted the Galena Hawks for their final regular season matches and Senior Recognition. We celebrated the successful volleyball careers of Peyton Wade, Masen Holmes, Lily Brown, and Olivia Selanoff before Friday night’s match. These girls have committed so much time to this team and are a key part to the team’s positive attitude and success this season. The team played great Friday, winning the match quickly 3-0. All the girls got to see the floor and each had a few great plays throughout the match.

Saturday continued in the same fashion with the team playing great all the way around, beating Galena 3-0. A number of girls have been working hard this season to develop jump serves. They were able to try them out in game and gave the team quite a few aces. We finished the regular season seeded 1st in the Aurora Conference with a match record of 10-0. The girls accomplished one of their goals to go undefeated in sets during conference play this year with a record of 30-0.

Next weekend the team travels to Fairbanks to play in our Regional Tournament at Hutchison High School. Valdez is ranked 1st and will be playing our first match at 2pm against the 4th or 5th seed.

Senior Night was Friday. Peyton Wade, Masen Holmes, Lily Brown and Olivia Selanoff are seniors on the lady Bucs volleyball team.

JV Volleyball

Glennallen vs. Bucs JV
Oct 29, 2022
This past weekend we held our last home games of the 2022 Volleyball season and celebrated our seniors in the last home game of their high school career!

The Junior Varsity Bucs played against the Glennallen Panthers this past weekend. Our Bucs JV came out strong on both Friday and Saturday against Glennallen. In the lineup for this weekend we had Sydney Cronk and Holly Carter playing as outside hitters and both front and back row. Mariah Dunning played as our middle hitter and also helped out as a server. Hana Meyer came in to play as a defensive specialist back row for Dunning. Savannah Barton also played both front and back row. Maddy Sauls played in the front row as both a middle and right side hitter and a server. Jazlyn Galletin played as our libero and defensive specialist. Finally, Marcedes Taylor served the team as our setter.

The Lady Bucs JV played with passing control and were working hard to set up attacks against the Panthers. On both Friday and Saturday Holly Carter and Sydney Cronk put up an aggressive offense as outside hitters, each making attacks in the double-digits each match. Marcedes Taylor continues to be a serving powerhouse for the Bucs, putting up 22 serves against the Panthers on Friday night. Maddy Sauls also stepped up as a tough server on
Friday with 15 serves. I am very proud of all the growth these athletes have accomplished during this season.
Great job, ladies!
