Hey Buc fans! Thanks for showing up on Friday and Saturday to cheer on our Buccaneer volleyball teams as they faced the Eielson Ravens, one of our Aurora Conference competitors! Every week I am seeing huge growth from our Junior Varsity. This was our first weekend with our entire team filling the bench.
Right off the bat on Friday the Bucs strong serving kicked into gear forcing Eielson to pick up their defense. Jazlyn Gallatin in particular hit the Ravens with multiple series of bullet serves over the course of all three evening sets culminating the night with 19 total serves (6 aces). Jamie Rupert and Raina Wells were also a steady threat at the service line, Rupert with 14 serves (6 aces) and Wells 13 serves (5 aces). Throughout each set the Bucs were throwing up offensive plays and attacks. Paige Pedersen made 14 outside attacks, Mariah Dunning 9, and Wells with 7. The Bucs ended the night with a three-straight victory against the Ravens.
On Saturday morning the Bucs worked hard through five sets that ended with a Buccaneer victory. Hali Fitka, Savannah Barton, Savanah Pruitt, Elaine Gilson, and Rupert all shared the spotlight with consistent serves that pulled us back into each set. Hazel Vanderpool was a big presence blocking and hitting middle with her incredible vertical. The team, despite losing a couple sets in a row, remained focused, positive, and confident in their abilities. Even when the scoreboard wasn’t in our favor, the Bucs maintained a great attitude and led to the final match win.
Way to go, Bucs!
