This weekend the varsity volleyball team competed in a regular match against Lathrop on Thursday in Fairbanks. After the long drive, the girls played well in a match that went to 5 sets. The girls came up short in the end but made a lot of improvements throughout the match. This weekend we had a brand new rotation running a 6-2 offense. Lola Compehos played middle for the first time, Destiny Day continued as a backrow setter but played as outsider hitter in front row, and Rylee Wade stayed middle hitter in front row but set for the first time in games this weekend.
On Friday and Saturday, the girls playing in the annual West Valley Invite against 9 other teams. Pool play was 2 sets against each team. The girls struggled on Saturday but made up and showed a lot of improvement and their potential on Saturday. Overall the girls went 9-9 placing 5th in the tournament. Next week we have our Annual Valdez Invite that hosts both a JV and Varsity level tournaments.
