Buccaneer wrestling is officially back for the 2023-2024 season! This year’s lineup features 8 freshman (Rylen Labonte, Levi Wade, Dylan Passage, Robert Taylor, Isaac Disney, Spencer Disney, Jewely Weber, and Junior Lopez), 2 sophomores (Brandon Smith and Dennis Baron), 8 juniors (Carlie Vanbuskirk, Eli Critchlow, Landon Metzger, AJ Tudela, Dalen Beck, Romen Weber, warren blood, and James Garcia), and 1 senior (Mckennan Mayer).
This past weekend the Bucs traveled to Houston to participate in the annual Houston Altercation Tournament, leading the way for the Bucs was Carlie Vanbuskirk (1st place 152G lbs), Dalen Beck (2nd place 160lbs), Romen Weber (3rd place 160lbs), James Garcia (6th place 285 lbs), and Eli Critchlow (6th place 145lbs). This group of kids spent a lot of time in the off-season going to camps and preparing for the season. I am very proud of the improvements that they have made and I am excited for the rest of the season.
This next weekend the Bucs will host the annual Throwdown in Snowtown tournament, wrestling action will begin Friday October 20th at 1pm and Saturday October 21st at 9am. Come on by the VHS gym to support your Buccaneer wrestling team. Go Bucs!
