This weekend the varsity volleyball team competed in the Grace Christian Invite. This is the largest 3A varsity tournament in the state with 18 teams competing. Valdez did amazing in Pool play going 7-1, with notable wins against Kenai and East. Our only loss was to Soldotna which was a close game Saturday Morning. The girls played amazing and went into the Platinum Bracket as the top seed.
Bracket play was double elimination with us starting off playing Kenai best 2 out of 3. This was a great game with us winning the first set. We went to 3 sets with them and fell short in the end. We had to play East later in the afternoon. This was another great match with close sets. We ended up losing 0-2 but I am proud of how the girls improved over the weekend. Next week we travel back to Anchorage to compete in the Dimond/Service Tournament.
I would like to thank Tony and Lori Day, Carey Wade, and Joe and Laurie Prax for all their help Friday night with getting the girls back to the hotel and helping us get the van unstuck from the mud. You guys are amazing!
