Big C Relays 2024

Track

This past weekend 18  Buccaneer track and field athletes traveled to The Dome in Anchorage and joined over 1000 other athletes from 34 teams both 3A and 4A, across the state to compete in the Russ Edwards Big C Relays. It’s always a treat to compete in The Dome. The energy was high and the competition was fierce. The Bucs had a great showing despite only getting 1 day of practice on our track before it was covered again with snow and missing part of our team due to the Close Up trip..

The Big C Relays offer some interesting relays that we don’t see at other meets throughout the season.  Our Co-ed 100/200/300/400 of Izzy Kiser, Barrett McCumby, Destiny Day, and Rafe Caruthers, finished in 2:30.10.  In the 4 X 1 mile, Valdez athletes, Jewely Weber and Rafe Caruthers teamed up with Soldotna for a time of 25:24. In the 100/100/200//400, the boy’s team of Merrick McCumby, Dylan Passage, Hunter Smilie, and James Humphrey, finished with a time of 1:51.66, and the girl’s team of Joie Sheldon, Paige Pedersen.
