The Buccaneer track team had an extraordinary weekend at the Region VI Meet in Fairbanks and brought home a Boy’s Team Region Championship, a Girl’s Team 2nd place, and an impressive number of individual medals. The weather (at least until the last 45 minutes) was perfect for racking up four new school records and many new personal records. Izzy Kizer improved her new Triple Jump school record yet again this weekend with a 33’ 10” jump. Izzy also broke the school record for the 100m that has been in place since 2000, with a blistering time of 12.86. Merrick McCumby, Barrett McCumby, Nick Alfaro, and Andrew Baczuk shaved even more time off their record in the 4X200 with a time of 1:35.45, and Rafe Caruthers ran a truly impressive 3200m, breaking that VHS record with a time of 10:12.83.
On Thursday the Bucs travel to Anchorage for the State Track and Field Championships at Dimond High School.
