Marcie Robertson will be recognized by the Valdez City Council for her 30 years of service to the Valdez community. Robertson began her career with the City of Valdez as a swim instructor in 1987 and has filled various roles in the City of Valdez Parks & Recreation Department, including Parks and Recreation Supervisor, and most recently Parks Maintenance Supervisor. Robertson has dedicated thousands of unsung hours to maintaining and grooming Valdez trails, working on projects like the Dog Park and Veterans’ Memorial Park, painting murals, and maintaining the Valdez Cemetery and Pioneer Cemetery. Robertson’s contributions to the community go far beyond what she has done as an employee and volunteer for the City of Valdez. Robertson has spent countless hours volunteering for local charities and teaching children while coaching and officiating. Robertson will be retiring after 30 outstanding years of service to the community and KVAK Radio wishes her well.
