April 27, 1971 – July 13, 2024
On July 13th, 2024, Josette Monique Pearcy, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully at the Providence hospital in Anchorage, Alaska at the age of 53. She was born on April 27th, 1971 in Anchorage, AK, then soon moved to Valdez, AK where she would live the next 50 years.
Josette graduated from Valdez Highschool in 1989, then would soon give birth to her only child, Courtney. In her young adult years Josette spent her time raising her daughter and participating in local sports, such as softball and the local dart league. In later years, Josette spent most of her free time visiting friends across Alaska and her mother, in Anchorage.
For the community of Valdez, AK, Josette will be remembered as a constant figure at the local grocery store, where she worked for over 30 years. During her time serving the community she became a reliable resource for many on finding items, knowing when shipments would arrive, or ordering specialty items on request the store would not normally receive, and so much more. Given the time she spent at the store where everyone in the community shopped, friends would jest how she became the unofficial town historian.
Josette will truly be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Courtney Hilton; mother, Carol Pearcy; brother, Richard Pearcy; and nieces, Tiar Pearcy, Ciara Pearcy, Candelaria Pearcy, and Shy Pearcy. She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Pearcy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the National Leiomyosarcoma Foundation or charity of your choice.
