Courtesy of Morgan Melton – Last week, Valdez High School took 20 Juniors and Seniors to Anchorage to attend the College Fair at the Alaska Airlines Center. Over 50 colleges from around the United States were in attendance. Many were part of the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program (WUE), which allows Alaska residents to attend out of state colleges on the West Coast at a discounted tuition rate. VHS students were prepared with questions to ask the colleges about academic offerings, scholarships, and the lifestyle/environment that make up each campus. Students also participated in a tour of the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA). Many of the College Admissions Counselors mentioned how prepared, polite, and engaging our Valdez students were. VHS College & Career Counselor Morgan Melton said, “We look forward to seeing what our Valdez Bucs decide to do after graduation!”
