Willie Shaw

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our dear friend and beloved community member, Willy, known to many as Mister. Willy’s love for his community was unparalleled, and his passion for celebrating life through events and gatherings will continue to live on in the spirit of every holiday festivity. Willy had an infectious energy that could light up any room, and he was the life of the party at every event. Whether it was Frosty Fever, Santa on the fire truck, the 4th of July parade or Gold Rush Days, Willy’s laughter and smile were always at the heart of the celebration. He was known for his deep love of music, particularly Elvis, and his singing and dancing always brought joy to those around him. Willy truly had a way of making everyone feel welcome, appreciated, and loved. His laughter was contagious, his heart enormous, and his friendship something to be cherished. Above all, Willy’s love for his family shone through in everything he did. His sister, Joyce, was his unwavering pillar of support, especially as he faced the challenges of Lewy Body Dementia. Their bond was one of love, strength, and devotion, and Joyce’s care for Willy was a testament to the incredible family they shared. Willy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire community of Valdez. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit will live on in every gathering, every celebration, and every moment that reflects the joy and warmth he brought into our lives. Rest in peace, Willy. Your memory will forever be a part of us, and your love for life will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
