Valdez Nordic Ski @ Glennallen Meet

Valdez Nordic Ski at Glennallen Meet, Jan 2025

VHS Nordic Ski Coach – Valdez High School ski team traveled to Gakona to race against the Glennallen ski team Saturday for a challenging 5k race, with 5 girls and 8 boys competing for the Bucs. Despite the cold temperatures, the weather was fortunately not as harsh as it could have been, allowing for a solid race experience on a fun course through the woods.

The team showed great perseverance in their first 5k skate technique race of the year, especially considering the limited practice time we’ve had this season due to poor ski conditions. Every athlete pushed themselves to the best of their ability, and should be proud of their effort and determination.

A special thank you to the Glennallen coaches Bruce and Kari Rogers and the volunteers who organized and ran such a fantastic event. Your hard work made the race a success, we appreciate your support in making this opportunity possible for our athletes.

Looking forward to more snow and races ahead!
