VALDEZ, ALASKA. (March 19, 2025) — The Valdez City Council has accepted the
resignation of City Manager John Douglas, effective March 28. Mr. Douglas has served
as City Manager since October 2023, and the City Council thanks him for his service to
the community.

To ensure a smooth transition, the City Council has appointed Assistant City Manager
Bart Hinkle as Interim City Manager, beginning March 28. Mr. Hinkle has over 25 years
of extensive experience in municipal leadership and will oversee city operations until a
permanent replacement is selected.

The City Council will begin recruitment immediately and post the City Manager position
for applications.
