VALDEZ – This Tuesday marks the 30th Anniversary of North Wave Communications (NWC)/KVAK. Thanks to our listeners, and most importantly, the hard-working businesses and organizations that advertise with us and make it possible for us to provide free music, news, information, podcasts and an e-mail newspaper to our community.
FUN FACTS
1. Frosty Fever was created by NWC twenty nine years ago and over the yeas 35,670 Frosty Fever buttons have been given away.
2. More than $200,000 in prizes have been given away during the last 29 years of Frosty Fever.
3. Senior Spotlights (Interviews with Valdez High School Seniors) started out as a radio feature. Today, the interviews are on the air, posted as podcasts on our website, and shared in KVAK’s e-mail newspaper along with photographs. We have no idea when we started this feature, but it’s been a long time!
4. In the last three years alone, KVAK has purchased and used more than 25,000 entry forms for local contests like “Moonlight Madness”, “Subway Hilton Giveaways” and KVAK client drawings.
5. NWS is a business and sells advertising to pay for all the expenses required to run two radio stations, a weekly e-mail newspaper, podcasting, streaming and our website. The KVAK Crew appreciates and loves working with the smartest businesses and organizations in town!
