Valdez Football Vs. Eielson
Submitted by Lee Chadwick
The Buc Football team hosted the Eielson Ravens during a downpour this past weekend. The wet conditions contributed to several errors in ball control and turnovers. Despite the difficult conditions, however, the team gained valuable experience, continuing to build skills and confidence week to week.
The game started well, with the Bucs capitalizing on some turnovers and miscues from the Ravens early on to take a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. However, some costly penalties coupled with miscues in play execution stalled the Buc offense, and the Ravens began to respond with long plays of their own. As the second quarter wore on, the Bucs were unable to stop the Ravens' passing attack, and quickly fell behind. The final two quarters saw much of the same miscues that proved costly earlier and were unable to sustain drives long enough to score. Ultimately the Ravens won by a score of 60-14.
This week, the Bucs travel to Nikiski for a Friday night game. The Bulldogs are 1-1 on the season, losing to Seward this past week, while the Bucs fall to 0-2.
