The Junior Varsity Buccaneers had their first taste of game action this weekend against the Cordova Wolverines.  With some of the Varsity swinger players leading the way, the Bucs managed to jump out to an early lead Friday night and never looked back.  A strong defensive effort had the Bucs lead the whole way through and everyone was able to get some valuable playing time and learning repetitions against a good Cordova team.

Following Friday’s win, Valdez had a rematch Saturday morning.  The Bucs came out of the gates strong and built up an early lead and again, never looked back.  Much of the same from the previous game, Valdez dominated the game on both ends throughout the contest.  In doing so, the Bucs were able to get some good repetitions of their offensive scheme and test out some new zone defense to great success.  It was a great learning experience for all involved and a bonus to get two wins to start off the season 2-0.

The JV Bucs’ next games will come January 10-13 when they travel to Naknek to participate in the Bristol Bay JV Tournament.
