Despite the high winds and road closures, the Delta Huskies made the trip to Valdez this past weekend for our last conference competitions of this season. Friday night the Lady Bucs came ready to play jumping out to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter. The fast pace, defensive pressure and accurate shooting by the Bucs continued to be too much for the Huskies to handle and at the half the Bucs had extended their lead to 32-19 and eventually ended their first game with the Huskies with a score of 61-46. Destiny Day led all scorers Friday night with 15 points, Rylee Wade added 14 points and Lola Compehos had 13 points.
Saturday night we recognized our two Seniors Sofia Ramos and manager Jamie Crisp. Both seniors started Saturday night for the Bucs and the highlight of the evening was Jamie Crisp hitting a 3 pointer early in the first quarter. Pretty great way to end your senior career at home. Saturday night’s game would prove to go much like the night before with the Bucs easily securing the win by a score of 67-51. Rylee Wade led all scorers on Saturday with 19 points, Destiny Day had 17 points, Lola Compehos had 14 points and Kelli Malcuit and Izzy Kizer both chipped in 7 points.
Overall it was a great way to end the regular season with nearly all players getting a significant amount of floor time. Next week the Bucs leave on Wednesday for Regionals at Monroe.
