Valdez City Schools Superintendent Jason Weber sent a memo to City Council proposing that the City’s child care facility be housed in the District office rather than at HHES as originally proposed. Weber cited concerns about feasibility of utilizing the HHES building, particularly the significant costs associated with the remodel and the unrealistic timeline to meet both City and District needs. The City Council will be moving ahead with the recommendation to use the West wing of Hermon Hutchens Elementary School as the site for a Child Care Center at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.
