Last Wednesday, Valdez solid waste technician Jayson Sweet was startled when he looked up and saw a live bear in the hopper of his dump truck. Sweet lowered the dumpster slowly and the bear used the windshield to balance and climb out. Once the bear got its bearings, it ran back and forth until it found a way to exit through some surrounding fences.
